The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum has formalized its performance commitments through the signing of cascaded Ministerial Performance Contracts alongside the Mid-Year Performance Assessment for the current Financial Year.
The exercise was led by Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi and witnessed by Principal Secretary Ahmed Abdisalan Ibrahim (National Government Coordination), marking a key milestone in reinforcing accountability and results-driven governance within the Ministry.
The signing underscores the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening public service delivery, promoting institutional accountability, meeting set performance targets and enhancing collaboration across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
By cascading performance obligations across departments and affiliated agencies, the Ministry aims to ensure clearly defined responsibilities and measurable outcomes at every level.
“Witnessed by Principal Secretary Hon. Ahmed Abdisalan,(National Government Coordination) this milestone underscores the Ministry’s dedication to strengthening public service delivery, promoting accountability, meeting set targets, and enhancing collaboration across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs),” stated Energy PS Alex Wachira.
The Mid-Year Performance Assessment further provides an opportunity to evaluate progress, identify implementation gaps.
The Ministry reaffirmed its dedication to delivering on the Government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), positioning the energy and petroleum sector as a central driver of sustainable national development.
Also in attendance was Principal Secretary Mohammed Liban (Petroleum), alongside Board Chairs of the State Department for Energy and affiliated agencies, Board Members, Chief Executive Officers and Managing Directors of the respective institutions.
The Ministry expressed confidence that the renewed performance commitments will translate into disciplined execution, improved service standards and tangible benefits for citizens as the energy and petroleum sector continues to power Kenya’s development agenda.
