National Bank of Kenya Reaffirms Strategic Partnership with Kenyatta University

Kenyatta University has reaffirmed its long-standing partnership with the National Bank of Kenya (NBK) following a high-level engagement between the University’s leadership and a delegation from the bank.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Okumu, welcomed the NBK team led by Ms. Virginia Karanja, Branch Manager, Kenyatta University, and Mr. David Ndome, Regional Manager – Nairobi.

The delegation also included Mr. Patrick Ikiara, Division Manager at NBK and Chair of the KU Alumni Interim Board, as well as Ms. Josephine Kalunge, Relationship Manager at NBK.

The meeting explored strategic opportunities to deepen collaboration in youth empowerment initiatives, industry-linked research partnerships, and the development of a structured Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The proposed MoU is expected to support Kenyatta University suppliers and ease operational and financial processes, strengthening institutional efficiency and stakeholder engagement.

NBK commended Kenyatta University for maintaining institutional stability despite prevailing economic challenges, noting the University’s resilience and commitment to academic excellence and service delivery.

The bank expressed strong commitment to “walk with the University” through continued cooperation and expanded partnership frameworks.

Both parties reaffirmed their shared vision of leveraging academia–industry collaboration to drive innovation, empower young people, and contribute to Kenya’s socio-economic development.
